The First 100 Days

Well we made it! President Obama's first 100 days since taking the oath has gone smoothly in my opinion. I just finished watching his press conference. He took all questions well from the swine flu epdimic to the current matters at hand. In my opinion, he did well!

The major networks, except FOX aired the press conference. FOX chose instead to air the series 'Lie To Me'. FOX News did send several reporters, but none of them were acknowedge by Mr. Obama. Apparently, FOX News got snubbed. And they damn sure deserved it for their disrespect.

Arlen Spector Jumps The GOP Ship!

PA Senator Arlen Specter has left the Republicans!

All the news outlets are abuzz over this. Type his name into Google News or visit your favorite National News website for more information.

Specter defection to the Democratic Party is a blow to the GOP. This move by Specter makes it close for the Democratic Majority to be fillibuster proof. There was both shock and outrage of his leaving the Republican Party. Who knows what Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, and the other mouthpieces will say. Even though I don't watch or listen to those gasbags, I'm going to assume they are giving birth to cattle herds!

Farewell To Bea Arthur...May 13, 1922 – April 25, 2009

Over the weekend, actress Beatrice Arthur passed away after a long battle with cancer. Bea was best know to many as Maude Finley, the opposite of Archie Bunker of 'All In The Family'.

After several appearences, she was soon cast in her own show 'Maude'. After 'Maude' ended, she starred in a short lived television series 'Amanda's' about a retired woman who tries to run a hotel. The series was similar to John Cleese's 'Fawlty Towers', but it failed to get an audience.

One year after 'Amanda's' was cancelled, she reunited with her 'Maude' co-star Rue McClanahan to star as Dorothy Patrillo Zbornak in 'The Golden Girls'. The show's cast included Betty White as Rose and Estelle Getty as Dorothy's mother Sophia. Estelle Getty died last summer from Alzhimier's.

Bea also performed on Broadway as Vera Charles in the stage musical of Mame. She recreated the role in the movie version starring alongside Lucille Ball in 1974.

In later life, she has guest starred in may shows, and was a tireless advocate for Animal Rights.

In a phone interview with co-star Rue McClanahan, Bea's last wishes was for a private memorial for family and friends.

Bea leaves behind two adopted sons, Matthew and Daniel from her second marraige.

Thank you Bea for being the trailblazer we needed during the tough times.

My Review of Cocksox Underwear and Swimwear

Go ahead and laugh at the name. But once you buy a pair, then you won't be. Guys, this gear is very hot and in the now. Cocksox bills themselves as the company that does for men what the pushup bra does for women. But don't take my word for it, buy a pair of on of their cool looking thongs or bikini or boxer briefs. Below is model wearing the slingshot thong. It's not like the standard slingshot worn by John Mayer or Borat, but it's nice.

Go to Cocksox and get a few pair. Tell me how you like them.

Weinermobile Sighting

Highlight of my day: Seeing the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile going eastbound on Highway 71 through Bastrop, Tx. Sad to say, this is another case of the things you see when haven't got your camera!! Well that's life in a rural area which is slowly becoming a suburb of Austin (no bloody thanks to the high taxes!).

Live and learn!!

Hello And Welcome

Welcome to my new blog site, Thong Wearing Democrat. Why did I call this blog 'Thong Wearing Democrat'?

Because I wear a thong and I am a democrat. I got the idea to start a blog after attending an event held by the group behind DailyKos, a popular progressive website. It took me a while to figure out how to incorperate my political beliefs. So I drew back on past experience when I used to live in Orlando, Florida. In 2002, the city of Daytona Beach had begun enacting laws on thongs that were ridiculous! I made a stink on the Yahoo Groups List I was running and the responses were fast and furious. The compromise, which leaned in favor of the old fogies, required that measurements were taken of your backside to see if your thong or bikini met their requirements for proper swimwear. If it didn't, then you paid a fine. Well that began a political war that had some innovative and progressive residents of Daytona Beach rise up and challenge the Mayor and council. Sad to say, me and a my friend moved back to Texas before we could find out if the challengers succeeded in their efforts.

Then after a few more years of dealing with Bush, the ecomomy, rising gas and food prices, I felt enough was enough and it had to get better. I started reading DailyKos after the 2004 election and was even more uplifted during the 2006 when the Democratic Party turned the tide. Things were slowly getting better and we called on every deity for help in 2008. And that got us a new President and better timees are hopefully coming despite the whiney butt Republicans doing everything to sabotage things. Ifelt I could stay silent no longer and created this blog site which will be a great addition to my thong website Thongs 4 U.

This new blog site is where I will inform intelligent thong wearing men and women about thongs and other forms of microwear. I will also talk about things that matter to all of us like health care, fitness, sports, politics, life, and travel. This is all going to be on the liberal/progressive ideology and I welcome all to read and comment.

Again, welcome and enjoy. And always, Stay Thonged

San Francisco Mayor Announces Run For Governor!

Gavin Newsom is running for Governor of California. He made that announcement on his website and on DailyKos. His announcement was recieved with both praise from many on the progressive front and some scorn by a gruntled few who went out of their way to bring up both political and personal dirt.

I had the pleasure of meeting him last year at Netroots Nation (formally YearlyKos). I found him to be a well spoken and interesting gentleman. I wish him luck and even though I don't live in California, he has my full support in spirit.
